Hi,

l installed Sparkylinux 5.1 from LIve-Iso:
Linux 4.14.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.14.7-1 (2017-12-22) x86_64 GNU/Linux

WLAN does not work with my TP-Link TLWN823N V.3 WLAN-USB adapter that has a Realtek rtl8192cu. Network scan seams ok, but not connection is established. There is even no lsusb entry. I checked WLAN connctiviy with an older Belkin USB adapter that works fine and shows up with lsusb.

For Debian there is a work around for 3.x kernels that was used also for 4.x kernels according to what can be read:

apt-get install --reinstall linux-headers-$(uname -r) linux-headers-generic build-essential dkms git
git clone https://github.com/pvaret/rtl8192cu-fixes.git
dkms add ./rtl8192cu-fixes && dkms install 8192cu/1.10 && depmod -a
cp ./rtl8192cu-fixes/blacklist-native-rtl8192.conf /etc/modprobe.d/
modprobe 8192cu

linux-headers-generic package doesn't come with Sparkylinux. Should I install the linux-headers-4.14.0-2-all-amd64 package instead? Anyone who did this?

Thanks!

thorstein

OK, I tried it with installin the linux-headers-4.14.0-2-all-amd64 package

Obviously, no errors occured and the connection with the Belkin USB adapter (also rtl8192cu according to lsusb) seems to have even more stable connections now.

But the TP-Link TLWN823N adapter became completly quite, doesn't scan anymore, and still is not listed by lsusb.

Any idea?

Did you check Debian's wiki already:

Thanks for the link. Seems, the device is not among the known adapters. I'll try to get an older adapter.
