Windows elements very big after NVidia install

I installed the NVidia linux driver on an otherwise stock install of LMDE / AMD64.  I fixed some crappy video playback I was seeing; but, now the size of certain display elements have grown.  Things like the text in application tabs such as IceWeasel are now about twice the size the should be, the application menu elements are large but the text for "Menu" itself in the ribbon is fine, even icons inside applications are larger (and fuzzier) than they should be.  I can't find what needs to get adjusted to play with the size of these elements.
