The Black Pig

Running LXQT decided to try Budgie -
Problems
1) On login black screen cannot change it.
2)No way of changing screen resolution.
3)Logout doesn't work

1. Try logout button in the right bottom corner-> Settings. It opens gnome-control window. Open a file manager and drag & drop a wallpaper from a file manager to the gnome-control-> Backgrounds-> Pictures.
2. There should be a screen option in the gnome-control to set it as you need. Doesn't it work?
3. Logout doesn't work in some cases (not on every installation) - should be reported to Evolve/Budgie forums.

Thanks for help Pavroo , sorted  ;)

Although Budgie seems like a nice DE, it really has problems with nVidia Optimus (Optimus itself having problems :P ).

1. When launched on default settings with using only the nVidia GPU, it goes into dual-head mode and displays half of it's interface on the screen and half on the "other screen" (which is the VGA port with no monitor connected). This is partially an Optimus issue and partially a Budgie issue (multi-screen handling gone bad).

2. When I finally sorted out the problems with the unconnected monitor being detected (this sentence itself sound really nice - thank you nVidia :P ), Budgie simply started hanging on login with budgie-wm maxing out at 100% CPU.

I guess it's still the matter of the project's "child age".
There's no such thing as "impossible". :)

Just found another problem - where's the screensaver ?
Also is it possible to change the panel background ?

pavroo

Quotewhere's the screensaver ?
Should be in the menu - if it's not there, install it via synaptic.
Quotechange the panel
Right click on the panel-> Setting -> change Budgie elements.

Exactly that. :D However it's support has drastically improved since Linus' F.U. ;) Other than that, Budgie still has a multi-display issue.
