Internet speed is Kbps or Mbps.

Kbps ( b is small letter ) kilo bits per second

Mbps ( b is small letter ) mega bits per second

Your download speed is KBps or MBps.

KBps ( b is capital letter ) Kilo Bytes per second

MBps ( b is capital letter ) Mega Bytes per second

If your internet connection is 16 Mbps then your maximum file download speed is 2 MBps.

16 Mega bits per second is internet speed

2 Mega Bytes per second is maximum file download speed

8 bits = 1 byte

16 Mega bits = 2 Mega Byte

16 divided by 8 = 2.

Internet speed is SI value

Download speed is BI value

SI values are calculated using the Internation System of Units

BI values are calculated using Binary Units.

Binary units are prefered by operating systems
